The Winchester Model 1873 Short Rifle brings the legendary “Gun That Won the West” into the modern era, pairing the timeless silhouette of Winchester’s original 19th-century lever gun with today’s manufacturing standards. Chambered in .45 Colt (Long Colt), this full-size right-hand configuration delivers a classic western look and feel in a more compact package suited to brush country, tight timber, and trail carry.

Built around a 20″ round steel barrel with a brushed polish blued finish, the Short Rifle uses a matching steel receiver, lever, and crescent buttplate in the same brushed polish blued treatment for a cohesive traditional appearance. A smooth-running lever action with a hammer safety, brass cartridge lifter, and steel loading gate cycles the 10+1 tubular magazine for fast follow-up shots. A 1:26″ twist stabilizes .45 Colt projectiles for consistent accuracy at hunting and target ranges.

The stock is a straight-grip satin oil-finished walnut with a solid, comfortable profile that places the shooter in a natural hold for both offhand work and bench rest. Sights consist of a gold bead front and a semi-buckhorn rear for quick target acquisition, with the tang drilled and tapped to accept an optional tang-mounted rear sight for precision shooting. At roughly 7.40 lbs and an overall length of 39″, the Short Rifle is light enough for a full day of carry yet steady enough on the bench for serious range time.
