This 338 Marlin Express cartridge is from Hornady’s LEVERevolution line of ammunition. It is designed to operate flawlessly within a lever action rifle, a feat it owes largely to its patented Flex Tip bullet. The elastomer tip is soft enough to assure that it’s virtually incapable of igniting the primer it touches while loaded in a tubular magazine, making this round a safe yet effective selection for hunting.

This round’s 220 grain FTX bullet’s Flex Tip does more than make it safer to load. Its pointed shape substantially increases its ballistic coefficient, and therefore its velocity. Upon impact the Flex Tip compresses into the bullet’s high antimony lead core in order to initiate rapid expansion. The FTX’s heavy jacket is bound tightly to its core via an InterLock ring, permitting it to deliver superior weight retention during penetration.
